Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the questions that often come up as parents consider working together.

If you don’t see what you’re looking for, you’re always welcome to reach out.

Is this the right fit?

  • This work is focused on helping you think clearly and make decisions. It’s not therapy or treatment, and it doesn’t involve diagnosis or ongoing clinical care. Instead, we use our time to make sense of what’s happening across home, school, and other settings, and to identify next steps that fit your child and your situation.

  • Often, parents come in when something isn’t working but the path forward isn’t clear. That might include school challenges, confusing evaluation results, behavior that doesn’t fit typical expectations, or uncertainty about what support would actually help. Sometimes it’s less about a specific issue and more about needing a way to organize and respond to everything that’s coming up.

  • That’s completely okay—and very common. You don’t need to have a clear question or plan before we meet. Part of the work is helping you sort through what’s going on and identify what matters most.

What to Expect

  • We start with what’s most present for you. From there, we work together to make sense of patterns, clarify what’s actually driving the situation, and identify practical next steps. The goal is to leave with a clearer understanding and a direction that feels usable.

  • No. You’re welcome to share context ahead of time if that’s helpful, but there’s no need to prepare anything formal. You can simply come with what’s been on your mind.

  • This is a collaborative process. I’ll offer structure, perspective, and options, but you remain the decision-maker. The goal is not to give you a script, but to help you move forward with clarity and confidence in your choices.

Scheduling & Logistics

  • You can book directly through the scheduling page. All available session types, pricing, and times are listed there.

  • Sessions are held either virtually via Zoom or in-person at a Hennepin County library. For in-person meetings, I reserve a private room and follow up with the details after booking.

  • Appointments can be rescheduled or canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, are not eligible for refund.

Ongoing Support

  • Ongoing support is a monthly service that includes regular sessions, along with limited between-session communication via email, text, or voice message. It’s designed for situations where things are evolving and it’s helpful to have consistent, responsive support over time.

  • It can be a good fit when you’re navigating something more complex or ongoing, where decisions aren’t happening all at once. Many parents start with a single session and then decide from there whether continued support would be helpful.

Boundaries

  • I don’t participate directly in school meetings or serve as a primary point of contact with providers.

In some cases, and with your permission, I may communicate briefly with a provider to support coordination or clarify information. This is limited and used to support your decision-making, not to replace your role in those relationships.

I can also help you prepare for conversations, think through how to approach them, and debrief afterward.

  • This work doesn’t include formal reports or written documentation.

When helpful, I may share brief follow-up notes or summaries to capture key ideas or next steps. The focus remains on conversation, understanding, and making clear decisions you can act on.

  • No. This service is not designed for urgent or crisis support. If you’re dealing with an immediate safety concern, it’s important to contact a local provider or emergency service.
